How is Mercury Telluride HgTe Powder Produced?
The preparation method of mercury selenide is as follows:
1. Under the condition of isolated air, dilute solution of HgCl2 is dropped into a saturated aqueous solution of H2Se to obtain HgTe precipitated product. Note that HgCl2 should not be in excess and a high concentration of HgCl2 solution should not be used, otherwise, HgCl2· 2HgTe precipitation will be formed.

2. Add HgCl2 to highly ammoniacal NaCN solution according to stoichiometric ratio, and then add equal weight SeO2.After the mixed solution is filtered, SO2 gas is passed into it. The solution must be kept alkaline throughout the reaction to prevent the red selenium from precipitating out. The endpoint of the reaction can be determined by the decrease in the rate at which SO2 is absorbed. At the end of the reaction, the black HgTe was filtered, washed with dilute NaCl solution containing ammonia, washed with distilled water, and finally dried in a dryer containing P2O5.

3. According to the stoichiometric ratio, Hg and Se are placed in a closed high-pressure vessel, and the reaction is carried out at the temperature of 550 ~ 600℃. Then the product is sublimated and purified in the pure N2 flow of 600 ~ 650℃, and pure HgTe can be obtained.
 
Applications of Mercury Telluride HgTe Powder:
As a semi-metallic material, mercury selenide is used in the manufacture of solar cells, thin-film transistors, infrared detectors and ultrasonic amplifiers. In addition, it is also used in the production of Hall effect high-resolution films and analytical reagents.
Hg selenide was used as a photocatalyst to degrade organic dye contaminants. The organic dye contaminants were irradiated with visible light, and HgTe was used as a photocatalyst for photocatalytic degradation.

Titanium Nitride (TiN) is a very hard ceramic material, usually used as a coating for titanium alloys, steel, carbides and aluminum components to improve the surface properties of the substrate. The Vickers hardness of TiN is 1800-2100, the elastic modulus is 251 GPa, the coefficient of thermal expansion is 9.35×10-6 K-1, and the superconducting transition temperature is 5.6K.
 
TiN will oxidize at 800°C at normal temperature. TiN is brown and appears golden when it is coated. According to laboratory tests, it is chemically stable at a temperature of 20°C but will be slowly corroded by concentrated acid solutions at high temperatures. Depending on the material and surface finish of the substrate, the friction coefficient between TiN and another TiN is 0.4 to 0.9 TiN surface (unlubricated). The typical TiN formation has a NaCl-type crystal structure with a stoichiometric ratio of about 1:1. However, TiNx compounds with x in the range of 0.6 to 1.2 are thermodynamically stable. Titanium nitride melting point is 2950 degree.
 
TiN becomes superconducting at low temperatures, and for single crystals, for titanium nitride coating, the critical temperature is as high as 6.0K. The superconductivity in thin-film TiN has been extensively studied, and its superconductivity varies greatly depending on the sample preparation until the superconductivity in the superconductor-insulator transition is completely suppressed. Cooling the TiN film to an absolute value close to zero, converting it into the first known super insulator, suddenly increased the resistance by 100,000 times.

The simplest and most successful preparation method is to pyrolyze nickel (II) compounds (such as hydroxides, nitrates and carbonates) to produce a light green powder. By heating the metal in oxygen, the synthesis of the elements can produce gray to black powder, which indicates that the stoichiometry is wrong. It combines with sodium and potassium oxides at high temperatures (> 700°C) to form corresponding nickelates.
In addition, nickel oxide nanoparticles can be produced by thermally decomposing newly prepared nickel hydroxide through a sol-gel route at 300°C (572°F). X-ray diffractometer and vibrating sample magnetometer can be used to characterize the nickel oxide nanoparticles produced by this method.
